I’m super excited to be getting back out foraging as the first of the wild garlic shoots pop up. We headed out into Highbury Park looking for cherry blossom last week and while we missed it again this year, I’ve found the tree to remember for next. Most of my urban foraging is based on learning the best spots and keeping a mental note for the following seasons. It’s really lovely to spend time in the same areas watching as the environment changes seasonally. We’re currently picking wild garlic, dead nettles, chickweed, jack by the hedge, blossoms, primroses and violas for the menu.
We’ll share a recipe for a very simple wild garlic pesto next week as well as a short guide to identifying and picking it.
